What will be happening?

The Interface:

Sunday 2nd - Sunday 9th December 10am - 5pm daily
Perth Town Hall Foyer. Free!

Fun, interactive activities for people of all ages. There will be PCs with WA-made computer games to play, free wallpapers and ringtones for your mobile phone and loads of other things to do and see. Info about study and careers in the digital content fields will also be available. Some of our great guest speakers and representatives from local digital content community will be hanging our here to chat with the public. ...more

Live Cinema

Live Cinema Event:

Saturday 1st December @ Dusk (around 8.30pm). Free!

VJing grew up, went to school and this is what it became. Using the same tools and techniques developed in nightclubs, live video performance has now become a recognised artform. Some of the very best in the world will be in Perth to collaborate on this event - a large-scale outdoor video projection performance unlike anything you've seen here before.

Solu (Finland/Barcelona), Jean Poole (Melbourne) and local practitioners VJzoo will be performing at a secret CBD location to be announced on the website on the day. ...more

Unravelling the New Media DNA

Featuring Megan Elliott from X|Media|Lab and other guests TBA.

The traditional media hyphenates of writer/director, director/producer et. al. are being changed irrevocably for the benefit of creators, users and audiences.

This session highlights the intersections between the creators of original audiovisual content and advanced social media networking, next generation blogging, music distribution, Web 2.0, and video sharing across platforms and across continents.

BarCampNano

A BarCamp is an unconference, where the attendees not only act as audience members - they act as presenters too. Want to get up and speak? Then get up and speak - or conduct a discussion, or a live coding session.

So what is a BarCampNano? It's a really little BarCamp!

The Australian Web Industry Association will be conducting BarCampNano between 1pm-4pm on Sunday 9th of December at the Perth Town Hall. Want to show the world what you do in 20 minutes or less? Then come along, and put your name down! Pre-registration page coming soon.

Robin Hunicke is the Lead Game Designer on MySims at EA’s Sims Division. In her copious spare time, she’s finishing a PhD in Computer Science at Northwestern University, studying Artificial Intelligence and Video Games.

Robin will be joined by Perth animator Stephen Grant who will talk about his work on the animated TV series Dogstar, shortly to commence airing on the Nine Network, and a range of other Australian and international projects. ...more

 

INVITATION-ONLY EVENTS

Official Opening:

Sunday 2nd December 6-9pm

Perth Town Hall Main Hall, Invitation Only - Industry, VIPs, & Media

The Festival will be officially opened by The Right Honourable The Lord Mayor, Lisa Scaffidi and The Honourable Francis M Logan BA (Hons) MLA Minister for Energy, Resources, Industry and Enterprise.

Keynote Speech of the Festival will be delivered by Megan Elliott, director of X|Media|Lab and all round dynamo. There will be a screening of the Get Reel to show you the great digital content being created here in WA.

Seating will be cabaret style, but we encourage you to move around and swap tables in between talks and screenings. Drinks and canapes will be served - the amount and quality will depend on sponsorship received :)

 

Closing Party

Saturday 8th December, 9pm - midnight

Perth Town Hall Main Hall, Invitation Only - Industry, Community Bodies, Sponsors, Speakers etc etc

Almost over - and a chance to let our hair down. Behind closed doors, guest performers will play for the entertainment of all the wonderful people who have helped us to make this happen.

Festival Lounge:

Sunday 2nd - Sunday 9th December 10am - 6pm daily and other times when Festival events are on.

Want somewhere quiet to meet and greet with people you've met through the Festival?

In town for the Festival, and want to update your blog without schlepping back to your hotel?

We will be aiming to provide wifi access, printing facilities, Fair Trade tea and coffee and other necessaries for guest speakers and VIPs who are in town for the Festival.

Kat also ran a BM!F style workshop at the ICTWA 2007 Conference called The Social Web is Serious Business - the resources are still online, you may find them useful.

Hopefully that should cover something for everyone!
